Actress and model Megan Milan recorded a video of herself being racially profiled in the Hi Fashions Beauty Supply in Los Angeles, Calif., on Jan. 19, and now the store owner is being labeled an “Asian Karen.”
Video footage taken by the model with her cell phone recorded the woman going through her bag near the entrance of the beauty supply store at 1136-C Santee Street. Milan could be heard on the video saying that she was racially profiled because she was Black.
It appeared as though the woman gave Milan no warning that she would look through her bag before she reached in the model’s purse. Asian Karen allegedly checked Milan’s pockets before going into her bag without permission as she shopped. The woman was allegedly making sure Milan hadn’t stolen anything.
After the racist woman rummaged through the model’s bag without warning, she looked up at her with a stern expression and walked off. Milan recorded the footage and followed the ballsy broad while noting she had just been profiled for shopping while Black.
Milan confronted the store owner, who said that she checked everyone’s bag while noting that she was Asian and also dealt with racial discrimination, to which Milan replied, “You’re not Black.”
The model posted a caption with the video with the hashtag “living while Black.”
“My intuition already told me to leave but I guess I needed this experience… #livingwhileblack.”

The store owner was reportedly hit with negative reviews after the video was posted to Instagram, prompting Yelp to temporarily disable users from leaving reviews due to a large number of negative reviews.
Asian Karen tried to explain herself before becoming exasperated with Milan and exclaimed, ” I don’t care,” before the video ended.
