A mother and daughter were carjacked in their driveway by a group of people that included what appeared to be a 10-year-old boy. The two women had just returned home in Chicago, Ill. on Nov. 19 when they were approached by several carjackers in their driveway.
The carjacking happened in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood around 1:40 p.m. on Harding Avenue near 111th Street.
The 56-year-old mother told reporters that two men demanded the keys to her vehicle. She said that one of the robbers pointed a gun at the herself and her 36-year-old daughter.
The woman added that one of the attackers was under 5 feet tall and looked like a 10-year-old child.
Video footage of the carjacking showed the victims arriving home in their red Alfa Romeo SUV. The SUV pulled into the driveway and the women get out to begin unloading the vehicle. A black vehicle soon stops in front of the victim’s house and two people got out.
The two women were about to unload their vehicle when two people approached the women and pulled a gun on them. Another car involved in the carjacking approached the scene, and the child got out and joined the carjacking. The three suspects are seen driving away in the woman’s car.
CBS News Chicago reported on the carjacking and said that the two carjackers approached the two women and pointed a gun at the mother while demanding her keys.
“The original two suspects sneak up on the mother and daughter, and out of nowhere, the mother said one of the suspects aimed a gun directly at the mother – demanding the keys to the Alfa Romeo.”
The terrified women did not want to speak on camera but told CBS that the child looked to be between six to 10-years-old. The mother added that she couldn’t believe how young the child was.
Chicago police found the SUV abandoned several hours later, but the suspects are still at large.
