According to the Tampa Bay Times, two North Carolina men were arrested on Sunday and accused of drugging, raping and stealing from an unnamed 24-year-old, who was later found dead in her hotel room during spring break in Miami.
Evoire Collier, 21, and Dorian Taylor, 24, were charged with sexual battery, burglary, petty theft, and a few other related crimes. According to the police report, Collier confessed to police that he and Taylor met with the woman at a restaurant. He also admitted to Taylor giving the woman a “green pill.”
According to the Miami Herald, a detective testified that hotel footage shows the unidentified woman was staggering so much that Taylor had to help hold her up. Collier also confessed to police that he believed the pill to be Percocet.
The police report also stated that Collier confessed to both men having sex with the victim and then Taylor raping her while she was unconscious. The two men then allegedly stole the victim’s money and cell phone before leaving.
According to Tampa Bay Times, the confession came while investigators are still trying to piece together the victim’s exact cause of death and whether it was a potential overdose
. The pair are set to face arraignment in three weeks. This horrible news comes during Spring Break, a high-traffic time for Miami and surrounding areas, where out-of-towners and party crowds come in droves to the beach. Over 1,000 arrests have been made since February by Miami Beach alone, proving just how turbulent things can get around this time of year.
And things don’t just end there. One Twitter user has gone viral for a very unnerving chance encounter with Collier and Taylor during spring break via a photobomb. A user named @jahfeelme_ on Twitter posed for a photo in a bikini with the accused two walking by and staring at the camera while the picture was taken.
“Oh nothing, just out in Miami getting photobombed by rapist murderers,” they captioned the tweet.
Many Twitter users sounded off in the replies about how common sexual assault truly is and just how unassuming some people can appear until it’s too late. Our hearts go out to the victim and their family.
