Juwan Anderson, 23, and Say-Quan Pollack, 23, are in custody for allegedly stealing $1 million in jewelry from Brooklyn pastor Bishop Lamor Whitehead during a live-streamed service.
According to ABC7, police announced that Anderson and Pollack were arrested in connection with the alleged armed robbery. The two men were arrested on federal robbery conspiracy and firearm charges on Sept. 28, The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace, said.
“As alleged, the defendants brought guns into a place of worship, stealing from two members of the clergy, and terrifying the congregation in the process,” Peace said in a statement. “I commend the Special Agents and Detectives for their outstanding efforts in identifying the perpetrators who committed a crime that shocks the conscience for its brazenness. This Office will always work with our law enforcement partners to protect our houses of worship, prosecute those who engage in gun violence and ensure the safety of all members of our community.”
A third man is being sought in connection with the alleged robbery.
As reported by News Onyx, three masked individuals allegedly robbed Bishop Whitehead during a live stream of his Sunday service that month. At the time, he was giving a sermon at the Leaders Of Tomorrow International Church in Canarsie, Brooklyn. While doing so, a gunman reportedly took off with $1 million worth of jewelry belonging to him and his wife, Asia K. DosReis-Whitehead.
All three suspects could face life in prison if convicted, NYPD chief of detectives James Essig said. Anderson and Pollack reportedly had previous run-ins with the law, as Anderson was arrested for domestic-violence assault in 2020 and Pollack was sentenced to five years in prison in 2016 for two counts of robbery.
“They caught the robbers, the three men that robbed my church,” Bishop Whitehead noted during his latest Instagram Live. “I was just awakened just about an hour ago…I am so excited today. They got ’em, they got ’em, they got ’em, they got ’em, they got ’em!…Everybody that stated that I had something to do with it, all I ask is that you apologize. Just say ‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry, bishop, and may the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry.'”
