A 29-year-old California man has been arrested in connection with the murders of his four children and their maternal grandmother.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Germarcus Lamar David allegedly shot and killed 51-year-old Erika England and his children — 11-year-old Namyiah D.; 7-year-old Germarcus D. Jr.; 2-year-old Kayden D.; and 1-year-old Noah D., on November 28.
George Gascón, the county’s district attorney, spoke on the tragic incident saying, “No family should endure this type of tragedy, especially when the alleged perpetrator was responsible for their protection. Our office has reached out to the family to ensure they have all the services and support they need during this difficult time.”
FOX 11 reported that the daughter and mother of the victims, Tyanna Brown, discovered their bodies in the home. The news outlet also revealed that police went to the scene and found a female victim who had been shot multiple times. Authorities also found the four children with gunshot wounds in the upper torso. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
David turned himself into authorities without incident later that night. England, the children’s maternal grandmother, had been babysitting while Brown was out.
The district attorney’s office has charged David with five counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child, causing death. He is in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional facility on a $2 million bond.
His arraignment was postponed to January 12, 2022, and his bond was raised to $10 million.
A fundraiser on behalf of the family was started by England’s “sister in Christ,” Rechone Jones. Although the ask for assistance was $10,000, the GoFundMe has raised $28,555.
According to East Bay Times, David and Brown were married but going through a divorce at the time of the murders. The couple owned the home and had gone to court regarding the pending dissolution of their marriage a couple of weeks prior.
