Tristan Thompson Shares Sweet Letter He Wrote For His Late Mother

NBA player Tristan Thompson penned a heartwarming letter to his late mother, Andrea, a month after she died, apologizing and thanking her.

Thompson shared the letter on Instagram and several photos of her.

“Dearest mommy in heaven,” he began the post. “It has been one month since you’ve been gone. I’m in disbelief. I’m in the deepest part of sorrow & grief. My soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of God’s warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way. You constantly protected us through prayer. My hero, you fought all the battles you needed to, and it was time for you to go home.”

Thompson thanked his mother for her sacrifices and everything she did for her family. He apologized for failing to live as the man she raised him to be and for the embarrassment and pain he caused. He then promised to turn his life around.

“Stay tuned to the ways I will show the world what an amazing son you raised,” he said. “I will show you that even when we fall & make mistakes, we get back up. You are my motivation. Stand beside me as I become the man I know you always believed in. I’m going to make you proud, I promise!”

Sis2Sis previously reported that the power forward lost his mother in January to a heart attack. Andrea was rushed to the hospital while paramedics attempted resuscitation methods, but she didn’t make it.

Thompson and his mother were very close before her death. The letter wasn’t the only time he referred to her as a superhero. In a Mother’s Day post, he thanked her for her sacrifices and said he was lucky to have her, ending the post with, “Not all superheroes wear capes.”
