On Wednesday, gunfire erupted at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, leaving four people wounded and a young man in police custody.
According to CBS News, police were called shortly after 9 a.m. after someone reported a shooting on the second floor of the high school. Four people were hurt during the incident that reportedly started after a fight began between two students.
Four people total were injured, including a teen girl who suffered from an abrasion. She is listed in good condition. A 15-year-old boy was listed in critical condition and needed surgery. A pregnant woman was injured, but she was released at the scene. Lastly, a 25-year-old man was listed in good condition.
The Arlington Police Department issued a statement regarding the search for the 18-year-old suspect.
“We are looking for a shooting suspect in today’s incident at @mansfieldisd Timberview School. Please call 911 if you know the whereabouts of 18-year old Timothy George Simpkins, who may be driving a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger with license plate PFY-6260.”
Roughly two hours after the tweet was sent, Arlington police confirmed that Simpkins had been apprehended. His mother stated that Simpkins had been bullied.
“The suspect has been taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple counts of Aggravated Assault with a gun. Most students have been safely evacuated from Timberview High School. Thank you for everyone’s help.”
According to NBC News, Simpkins turned himself in to police with his attorney in tow. He is to make an appearance later on Wednesday. He faces numerous counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
