TikTok’s Oddest Couple Plan To Have Their First Child

Georgia Grandma Cheryl McGregor and her husband, nearly 40 years her junior, Quran McCain, announced that they’ve been planning to have their first child.

According to reports, the couple said they’re ready to start a family after tying the knot in 2021.

“We got married in September 2021, and it’s been a few months since. We are ready to start a family,” said McCain. “Cheryl is 61 and has seven children and seventeen grandchildren already but we feel we deserve children of our own.”

After posting couple-themed video clips on their respective accounts, the 24-year-old and his wife previously went viral on TikTok, which garnered up to 15 million views. Much to their dismay, many people made fun of them on the app, but they still managed to each gain millions of followers–McCain has 1.2 million and McGregor has 2.7 million–due to their unconventional relationship.

“People on social media have a lot of hate for us, they say I’m dating my grandmother…We get a lot of hate, but it doesn’t phase us. At the end of the day, we still got each other, and that’s all that matters,” McCain said.

He reportedly met McGregor at just 15 years old while he was working at a fast-food restaurant managed by her son. The two began dating years later, in 2020, as they reconnected while she was working at a convenience store.

Their wedding was even streamed via TikTok Live for followers to watch and was uploaded to their joint YouTube channel, Cheryl and Quran.

The channel has racked up over 6,000 followers since it first launched last year.

McCain said they tried to conceive naturally, but due to the 61-year-old’s age, they decided to either adopt or try surrogacy.

“We have tried for children, but with age, we feel surrogacy or adoption would be a better option…We prefer surrogacy. However, we have seen a lot of people embroiled in legal complications far after the child is born…We are looking for a nice surrogate who is willing to sign a contract to have nothing to do with the child after [it’s] born.”

He added that if the pair does decide to adopt a child, they’d prefer the kid to be biracial because it would represent them better.

“With adoption, we are looking for a biracial baby, so he would feel that we are his true parents.”

The 24-year-old made it a point to express that he didn’t want anyone trying to have a baby for him and his wife for “financial gain.”

“We don’t want people trying to have a baby for us for financial gain. [We] are not that financially inclined ourselves.”

His wife inserted that since she’s way older than him, she wouldn’t be around to raise their child as long as he did.

“We understand that I may not be there for as long as Quran is but I have faith in him,” she said. “If I am not here, he can do it. He’s gonna be a great father, he’s a responsible adult.
