TikTok user Jay went viral after posting a video where he says that a customer cussed him out for taking two to three hours for a DoorDash delivery after she tipped five dollars on a $300 order.
Jay was quick to cover all grounds before posting the controversial video.
As a comment, he added, “Before you comment something dumb, I received the order 2-3 hours late. I didn’t care about her tip. It’s DD’s and her fault for the order being late.”

A ton of other users commented supporting Jay’s post, others disagreed and think that the price for food covers the price for the service as well.
One user said, “Just like y’all don’t have to tip, we don’t have to take your order, respectfully. If you don’t want to get it yourself least you can do is tip.”
Another user said, “Some of y’all need to understand that food delivery is a service that makes most of their money from tips. So if you can’t tip well get your own food.”
Jay added another comment mentioning that the customer lived 10 miles away from the Texas Roadhouse she ordered from.

One opposing user said that her job was tip based and that she prefers cash tips which are based off of performance.
Someone even went as far as to say that the video was a form of entitlement and that they’ll be changing the way they tip now.
Jay mentioned that DoorDashers can choose to accept a delivery or not based off distance and tip.
Furthermore, non-tipping customers will get their food, but Dashers will usually wait until it’s a high enough payout to take the order.
DoorDash continuously raises the base payout for an order when Dashers refuse to deliver it.
