Controversial TikTok chef Waymond Wesley II is now a former Houston assistant district attorney after caving in and resigning following the discovery of contentious tweets he made targeting Black women.
Wesley’s resignation was announced by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office via Twitter on Jan. 24.
“Waymond Wesley has resigned his position with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office,” the statement read. “Wesley was hired in March 2021, but was only recently assigned as a prosecutor in the Misdemeanor Trial Bureau, where all of his cases were supervised by a senior prosecutor.”
The statement continued, “At the time of hiring, the DAO was unaware of a series of disparaging & offensive comments Wesley had posted on social media years earlier. When the office became aware of the posts, it was determined he could no longer effectively prosecute cases and he was reassiged.”
The Harris County DA added, “Wesley apologized for his offensive comments and explained that they came during a period in which he was struggling with serious personal issues, including alcohol addictions, from which he is recovering.”

Harris County DA Kim Ogg released a statement to KPRC 2 about Wesley’s controversy.
Appointed Harris County DA Kim Ogg was made aware of Wesleyâs hate speech targeted Black women early this month. She initially forgave Wesleyâs actions on behalf of Black women (including a 15 yr old that Wesley harassed). This statement is too little too late I fear. pic.twitter.com/jDIkcVeUgb

“…Prior to joining our office, Mr. Wesley went through treatment and has worked with ht eState Bar of Texas to resolve his issues,” Ogg said. “His recovery is ongoing. I am a believer in second chances, and Mr. Wesley has conducted himself professionally since joining our staff. I am confident that will continue.”
As previously reported by News Onyx, Twitter users encountered disrespectful social media posts from Wesley, exposing him to be an alleged colorist due to the insulting posts against Black women.
In one post, seemingly from Facebook, Wesley posted a photo (under the name July Alsina and username @WaymoTheGod) of a white woman’s body, writing in the caption, “This is the perfect size woman and skin tone. She’s healthy. Anything bigger/darker than this is garbage.”
A screenshot of a tweet showed two photos Wesley posted of a beautifully curvaceous Black woman and a dumpster site, writing above the side-by-side photos, “I see no difference.”
