The Man Cave Nail Salon Helps Men With Self-Care

Self-care is important, but the industry is largely marketed to women. However, a new nail salon in Spartansburg, South Carolina, called The Man Cave, is offering men the opportunity to be pampered as well. On May 25, local news outlet WSPA reported that the men-only salon was finally open for business. The owner, Shana Soberanis, could not have been happier to celebrate.

“I came up with the idea after doing my fiancé’s feet. He enjoyed getting pedicures and massages, and he suggested that I go to nail school. I enrolled and realized that I really liked doing feet,” Soberanis said.

Soberanis said that The Man Cave is the only salon within 50 miles that exclusively provides manicure and pedicure services to men. The minimum age to partake in pampering is 13.

The Man Cave welcomes diverse clientele with everyone from lawyers to people with diabetes that require special foot care patronizing the business to receive their desired form of TLC.

Although the salon is not for women, Soberanis encourages women to purchase services for the men in their life. Occasionally, Soberanis allows women to accompany the man receiving services, but The Man Cave does not offer women any of their nail-tending services.

“Women have their ‘me-time.’ This is for the men. This is what we need,” Shad Byrd, a Man Cave client, said.

Apparently, the sentiment is widely shared because the salon stays booked and busy.

“It’s always busy. They get you in and out. Not saying that they should get to know their customers but at least talk to them and ask them how their day is going because it could be the stop that changes someone’s life,” Byrd said.

The salon’s website offers seven different nail packages, foot massages and hand massages. They even offer a water-less pedicure for people with diabetes.

For her part, Shana Soberanis believes men need a calm place to get away from the stresses of everyday life while also addressing a part of common hygiene that men may overlook.

“I saw a need for nail care for men. I wanted them to know that it’s okay. It’s a part of hygiene and wellness care,” Soberanis said.

Thanks to out-of-the-box thinking, men in Spartansburg can enjoy themselves.
