Kendra Y. Nance is the woman in the viral Chicago gas station video where she turns her boyfriend’s SUV upside down and laughs aggressively in a fit of road rage.
The video was recorded by a bystander named Jae Mills, who told FOX Chicago that objects were thrown before the incident escalated at the Thornton gas station in Forest Park.
Two women fight with Nance for reasons that have not been properly explained, but one witness said someone laughed at her.
“They started arguing because she heard somebody else laughing at her,” Aliyah Davis, another witness, told ABC7 Chicago.
The women were throwing bottles at Nance’s boyfriend’s Ford SUV. It was only when the unnamed boyfriend got out of the car that Nance turned to violence. Nance decided to use her boyfriend’s Ford SUV as a weapon against the women.
Later, Nance is seen hurling insults at two women, taking control of her boyfriend’s Ford, crashing her boyfriend’s SUV into a parked car while the boyfriend is outside the car holding the steering wheel, and driving through an intersection where she crashes into another stopped car in front of a Jiffy Lube.
The impact of the second car somehow flips Nance’s boyfriend’s SUV upside down, ironically in front of the automotive preventive maintenance chain.
The icing on the cake had to be Nance getting out of her overturned car, escaping through the broken driver’s side window, and forcing herself to laugh at the women she was shouting racist and homophobic slurs at.
“Ha ha ha ha,” said Nance, taunting her distractors.
Notably, Nance appears to be a Black woman, and the other two women in the video are also Black.
No injuries were reported.
Nance and her boyfriend tried to leave the embarrassing and chaotic scene, but Mills confronted them and immediately called the police.
Nance, 31, was charged with several criminal and traffic offenses: criminal damage to property, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct, driving without a license and reckless driving, and leaving the scene.
Her boyfriend got charged as well.
