St. Augustine High School Grads All Accepted Into College

This year’s graduating class at St. Augustine High School has made a considerable achievement that is being nationally recognized.

Every student in the all-Black class of 2022 at this Catholic, all-boys high school got accepted to college. The graduates also earned a combined $9.2 million in scholarship offers.

According to their website, “St. Augustine High School is a college preparatory school for young Black men in grades 8-12 founded in 1951 by the Josephite priests and brothers.” The school is located “in the heart of New Orlean’s historic Seventh Ward.”

A parent of one of the students shared a viral video on Twitter of the 100 graduates jamming to traditional NOLA tunes, celebrating their accomplishments.

Several family members, friends, community members, and even alum of the school have chimed in to celebrate this year’s graduates on Twitter.

According to WDSU, Mel Cordier, the Director of Communications & Marketing, said, “99 graduates in this class will enroll in a college or university. One graduate is entering the military ranks. We’re told 55% of students are staying in-state. 45% are going out of state.”

Congratulations, St. Augustine Class of 2022!
