This year’s graduating class at St. Augustine High School has made a considerable achievement that is being nationally recognized.
Every student in the all-Black class of 2022 at this Catholic, all-boys high school got accepted to college. The graduates also earned a combined $9.2 million in scholarship offers.
According to their website, “St. Augustine High School is a college preparatory school for young Black men in grades 8-12 founded in 1951 by the Josephite priests and brothers.” The school is located “in the heart of New Orlean’s historic Seventh Ward.”
A parent of one of the students shared a viral video on Twitter of the 100 graduates jamming to traditional NOLA tunes, celebrating their accomplishments.

According to WDSU, Mel Cordier, the Director of Communications & Marketing, said, “99 graduates in this class will enroll in a college or university. One graduate is entering the military ranks. We’re told 55% of students are staying in-state. 45% are going out of state.”
