Black-owned hamburger chain, Slutty Vegan, is welcoming a new dish to its menu this week. The brand introduced Hooker Fries to its customers, announcing the item would be available on June 7.
The description and photo of the fries show that the vegan dish includes chopped Philly cheesesteak, jalapenos, caramelized onions, and bell peppers. The vehicle for the toppings is the chain’s signature fries called Slutty fries, which are crinkle-cut potatoes sprinkled with “slut dust” seasoning. Finally, the Hooker Fries are drenched in spicy vegan mayo, provolone and cheddar cheese.
The Slutty Vegan was founded by the Atlanta West End’s Pinky Cole, who coined the slogan “Eat. Plants. Sluts.”
She described the salacious name as “A Slutty Vegan is someone who takes time away from their busy lives to indulge in the pleasures that life brings.”
“So take a break from your Brussels sprouts and quinoa salads and enjoy the best burger in town!”
Cole said her goal in opening the unique restaurant was to “Bring vegan options and food awareness to Atlanta’s West End.”
The description on the website reads, “Opening the conversation on vegan food options for people who have never considered them in this community that has such high numbers in hypertension, cholesterol, obesity, and a host of other food-borne ailments, is momentous.”
The company originated in Atlanta and has two other significant locations in Fort Greene and Harlem, New York. They’re well known for their suggestive themes; they have plant-based burgers and other foods with naughty names. They have items like the “Ménage à Trois, One Night Stand, Fussy Hussy, Sloppy Toppy, and Super Slut.”
