Shaun King is back in the news less than two full weeks back from his social media hiatus. This time, he appeared on Instagram to announce his new clothing line that is in the works. King’s knack for business opportunities that often resemble grifts put Black Twitter on patrol.
On August 11, King made a post on his Instagram page that read, “On September 8, I am launching a brand new fashion company I’ve been working on for over a year.”
He then instructed followers to click the link in his bio to be the first notified when the merchandise is released.
The link led to another Instagram page called A Real One, the name of King’s new clothing line. The company will sell hoodies and t-shirts. The page already has 76,000 followers despite only having one post.

Before King announced his hiatus in early July, social media guessed that he would do so with a new grift when he returned. They may not have been wrong.
Almost immediately after he returned to his Instagram page, he and his homie, Lee Merritt, asked for donations to move out of the New Jersey home he and his wife had just purchased in November due to security concerns.
Due to his history, Black Twitter voiced concerns that this just may be another shady business that the activist journalist is using to fatten his pockets.

At this point, it’s safe to question if Shaun King’s real business is getting social media to ridicule him. It seems that would be a lot easier and probably more lucrative.
