Romy Vilsaint, a 12-year-old Brooklyn, New York boy, was pronounced dead Friday morning at Kings County Hospital after complaining of a severe headache. The young child was allegedly bullied at his school and punched in his head by a fellow classmate, all over a $1 dare.

Vilsaint suffered beatings at the school for two days, the Daily News reports. According to family members, Vilsaint returned home from school Wednesday and confessed that two boys had assaulted him. 

Roodwiny Exantus, Vilsaint’s 28-year-old cousin, told the Daily News “He said he had a slight headache and his waist hurt,” adding “When he reported it to the teacher [Thursday], she asked who did it and why. [Romy] said another kid paid him a dollar to do it.”

NBC New York reported that Vilsaint was hit by two bullies on Wednesday as East Flatbush’s Public School 361 was letting out for the day. The next day, he was assaulted again, this time over the alleged $1 dare. New York police were able to verify that Vilsaint had been punched in his head by another classmate following his death on Saturday.

Following the bullying incidents, Vilsaint reportedly stayed home from school on Friday. Unfortunately, things had already taken a turn for the worse. The fifth-grade boy began exhibiting extreme symptoms, including severe headaches, vomiting and signs of dehydration.

“I wanted to take him to the hospital, but Uber was taking too long,” Exantus said about his young cousin. “He was begging for water. I called an ambulance. They arrived and said they were doing CPR and that’s when I knew he was gone. I couldn’t believe he was gone so fast.”

The medical examiner’s office claimed that Vilsaint “suffered no physical trauma,” according to NBC New York. However, his cause and manner of death have yet to be determined. 

Police are currently investigating his death, and so far, haven’t made any arrests.
