Meg shared photos on Instagram announcing her graduation featuring her and her graduation cap, along with a caption which read, “2021 finna graduate collegeeee taking my graduation pics today. I can’t wait for y’all to see.”

After taking a break from school, Megan took classes at TSU in 2019 to finish her degree in health administration.

Meg’s wishes to pursue an educational career are inspired by her mother, Holly Thomas, and her grandmother– both died in March 2019.

According to Pitchfork, when Thomas, who happened to also be a part of the music industry, discovered that Megan wanted to be a rapper, she told Megan that she was only allowed to pursue her music career when she turned 21 and promised Thomas not to quit her education over a music career.

After going back to school, Megan told People that the women in her family were still her motivation.

“I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud,” she said. “She saw me going to school before she passed. I want my big mama to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed. My grandmother, that’s still alive, used to be a teacher, so she’s on my butt about finishing school. I’m doing it for me, but I’m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.”

Although she won’t be pursuing a career in health after graduation, Megan plans to open her own assisted living facility in Houston. She has previously said that she expects to hire alumni from her soon-to-be alma mater.

Texas Southern’s Fall 2021 graduation is set for December 11.
