Popeyes Employee Goes Viral For Singing to Drive-Thru Customers

Cynthia Carter is a Popeyes employee from Kenner, Louisiana. She recently went viral on Facebook for greeting drive-thru customers with her singing.

Carter is bringing smiles to customers at the Popeyes she works at and to people on social media as they shared a video of the 57-year-old singing the menu and providing excellent customer service to customers. In one video that belongs to Aundra Woodfin, Carter is heard singing a man his order, in which the man sings back his response through the speaker.

Since 2005, around the time Louisiana was recuperating from the havoc from Hurricane Katrina, Carter has been serving up fried chicken with a smile and a song. It all started when a customer approached the drive-thru and sang to Carter, which cheered her up, especially after suffering from losses in the storm. After responding back with her singing voice, Carter continued to do the same for other customers who waited to be handed their bag of fried chicken, and she’s still doing it today.

WGNO referred to her as the Popeyes’ Patti LaBelle back in 2017 due to people saying her voice sounds similar to Patti LaBelle.

In 2014, Carter was on the TV show Undercover Boss. In the same year, Carter was featured on NBC’s The Meredith Vieira Show where she received a new Toyota RAV4 for inspiring people. Jon Harris, a correspondent for the show, surprised Carter with the new car by showing up to the drive-thru and handing her the keys.

“You have been inspiring so many people,” Harris told her. “Every day you’re singing and uplifting their spirits, and we wanted to do the same for you.”

Unfortunately, Carter won’t be serenading Popeye’s customers much longer. She announced to NOLA.com in March that she is planning on retiring soon after 30 years.

The Popeyes location that Carter works at is located in Kenner, Louisiana, at 3016 Loyola Drive.
