Suspect Raymond Thomas has been charged with murder after Philadelphia mother of six, Ashley Lockhart, was fatally stabbed by her fiancé in a minivan.
Thomas–Lockhart’s fiancé–was charged with murder and “possession of an instrument of crime,” as he reportedly turned himself in just hours after the Philadelphia mother was brutally stabbed. Investigators believe he committed the gruesome crime, which took place inside a gold Honda Odyssey in broad daylight on Aug. 6.
Police reportedly discovered Lockhart’s lifeless body, which had multiple stab wounds, and a knife lodged in her skull, inside the van on the 5300 block of Chestnut Street. Thompson told detectives that he brutally stabbed her because he believed she was cheating on him and that he took the train to use heroin after the vicious attack.
The District Attorney’s Office reported that the 34-year-old was known to police as the victim had previously filed a protection from abuse order against him. However, the two were still living together and even shared six beautiful young girls, ages ten, eight, six, five, four and even five months old.
“I don’t have specifics to answer for you on this man’s record, I do know that it’s very lengthy, and I know the case is extremely sad, very, very troubling,” District Attorney Larry Krasner said.
Lockhart’s family launched a GoFundMe page on Aug. 7 to assist with funeral costs and has since raised double their $30,000 goal.
“Ashley was an amazing mother, dedicated working mother, and devoted mother. She loved all of her children and devoted her time [and] energy, and made sacrifices for them that they will forever remember,” the Philly woman’s relatives wrote. “As a family, we will make sure that all “Six Charms” (as Ashley called her girls) stay together and that their Mother’s life and legacy is one that they will forever remember. All proceeds will go towards costs and needs for the girls only.”
