A United States petty Navy officer, Leoda Bradshaw, has been charged with abduction and murder. The charges come after she traveled to Jamaica on September 6 and allegedly paid men to kill the wife and 10-month-old daughter of Parliament member Phillip Paulwell.
According to a press release conducted by the According to a press release undertaken by Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday, October 13, 27-year-old Toshyna Patterson and her ten-month-year-old daughter Sarayah Paulwell were killed, and their bodies were found. They also revealed that Bradshaw was involved in a romantic relationship with Phillip, and she conspired to kill his current wife and her daughter because of the relationship. Traveling to Jamaica, Bradshaw plotted to commit the crime with her cousins, Roland Balfour, Richard Brown and Roshane Miller.
The ODPP explained in the statement, “During these conversations up to the 9th of September, 2023, there was an agreement made under the direction of Leoda Bradshaw for these men to kidnap and kill Toshyna Patterson and her 10-month-old daughter, Sarayah Paulwell, who was the product of a relationship that Ms Patterson had had with Mr Phillip Paulwell. This plan also contained part payment (which had been made) of a certain amount of money by Leoda Bradshaw to the men for the successful execution of the plan.”
Patterson and her daughter were kidnapped from their Gilmore Drive home in Kingston by the US Navy officer, who brought the pair to her co-conspirators. Bradshaw has been hit with two charges of conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, and capital murder.
Brown was identified as being most heavily involved in the murder and was charged with similar degrees. Balfour and Miller were charged as accessories to the double homicide and kidnapping.
Bradshaw was indicted on Friday, and her next court date is scheduled for December 1.
