Disturbing footage of a nurse slamming a two-day-old baby into an ICU bassinet has gone viral on social media, prompting outrage and sparking an investigation into the incident.
The video, captured by the infant’s parents, shows the newborn being roughly handled and slammed into the bassinet by the nurse in question.
The incident occurred at Good Samaritan Hospital, where the nurse was employed. The hospital has since terminated her employment and released a statement condemning her actions.
The statement said, “Upon learning of this incident, swift and immediate action was taken, including conducting an investigation and consequently terminating the individual involved. Additionally, we reported the individual to the Department of Health for further review. Keeping our patients safe remains our paramount concern.”

The parents expressed their shock and horror at what they witnessed.
Mother of a newborn baby, Consuelo Saravia, said, “It was heartbreaking,” said Saravia. “I couldn’t stop crying, I couldn’t even sleep.”
Nikko’s dad, Fidel Sinclair, was the one to see the incident firsthand and captured it on his phone.
Two days after his son was born, he went to see him and saw him crying through the window of the nursery.
He decided to record a video of his new baby boy when he captured the nurse slamming the baby face-first into the bassinet.
“I don’t know, it just broke me,” said Sinclair. “I didn’t know what to do.”
“There were a lot of babies in there, and it made me feel like if that happened to Nikko, who else did that happen to? I find it messed up that in a room like that, they have all the curtains closed,” he added.
Suffolk Police’s Special Victims Unit is investigating, and the nurse in question may face criminal charges.
