NJ Community Service Advocate Artoria Dee Frazier Killed By Husband In Murder-Suicide

Community volunteer Artoria Dee Frazier was murdered by her husband in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Courier Post. Frazier died on May 30 in her Hainesport, New Jersey home.

New Jersey State Police troopers found 48-year-old Frazier and her husband, 54-year-old William Hylton, dead when they arrived around 1:30 p.m. Police said that it appeared Frazier died in a murder-suicide at the hands of Hylton. The couple had two children, a son, Torian Hylton, and a daughter, Taylor Hylton. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Frazier was known in the community for her volunteer work with the homeless. She frequently volunteered at the Rescue Mission of Trenton to help feed the homeless. She would also feed

the homeless in other shelters in Trenton and Camden. The Rescue Mission of Trenton tweeted about the tragedy on June 11.

“It is with great sorrow we learned Artoria Dee Frazier, Founder & Executive Director of Women w/ Voices Charity, passed away. She’s been a compassionate & enormously generous contributor since 2018, bringing thousands of meals to our door. Her memory will continue to inspire us.”

Frazier also began a nonprofit in 2012 called “Women with Voices.” The nonprofit organization delivers food to marginalized families. The organization also provides students in low-income neighborhoods with school supplies. Her friend and fellow volunteer, Kim Broomell-DeLia, said that Frazier cared about everyone.

“She was always bright, and she called everybody ‘Sunshine.’ She just cared so much about everyone, and it’s not easy doing what she was doing. Some days there are a lot of volunteers, and some days it was just her and maybe one other person. But it was just so important to her to help everyone.”

Broomell-DeLia added that Frazier didn’t call the people she helped homeless and instead would say, “We’re feeding our friends.”

Police have not released any other details about the murder-suicide as of yet.
