Sacramento Kings forward Moe Harkless donated $50,000 to a program that assists kids aging out of the foster care program.
According to NBCBLK, Harkless donated to the program in his native city of Queens, New York.
Harkless first donated back in 2020 to the Last Resort Emergency Response Fund, a program created by New YCity’sty’s Administration Children’sen’s Services and the New Yorkers For Children to help young adults suffering during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The generous athlete donated $25,000 to the program, which helped young adults ages 18 to 26 who were aging out of the foster care program.
Because foster children do not have family resources and support, the program was designed to help young age-outs with help financially, help with medical expenses, tuition, school laptops, transportation and everyday living. Harkless gave his second donation of $25,000 earlier this year.
“It really means the world to me to be able to have an impact on the city that raised me,” said Harkless. “I came across the Last Resort Fund and it really hit me — one, the fund being based in New York, the city that I’m from. And two, focusing on the youth. That’s always been a big passion of mine.”
The baller is also a wine connoisseur and shared a post toasting a new wine to his collection on Instagram. Harkless’ donations assisted 100 people and families facing food insecurity and homelessness during the pandemic.
