As reported by Marc J Spears and Sports Illustrated, Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications after an almost 20-year hiatus from Wake Forest, where he was pursuing his degree before being drafted to the NBA in 2005.

In an interview, Paul described being excited and having long awaited the graduation ceremony. He said, “I’m excited. Long time coming. My brother was the first person to graduate in my family. To be able to go back home and do that with my family is something that snuck up kinda quick … but I’m probably most excited that I get to spend the next ten days with my wife and my kids.”
“Man it’s cool. I’m excited. Long time coming.”
