Queenie Roux, a 28-year-old Black mother of six children, left behind her McDonald’s job in Sebring, Florida, and made the road trip to Atlanta with five of her kids, reportedly hoping for a new start. But according to WXIA-TV in Atlanta, things took the worst turn when she was involved in a fatal crash on I-75, resulting in her death and the death of her 3-year-old daughter, Queen.
The I-75 highway runs from Florida to Georgia and ends in Michigan. According to WXIA-TV, Roux’s June 23 crash was located in Clayton County, Georgia, just 15 miles away from her destination. The other four children were rushed to a nearby hospital, but injuries have not been specified.
No reports on what caused the crash.
Offering an update on the young children, aged two to nine, cousin to the family Tiffany Roux told CBS 46, “The kids are okay. They’re perfectly fine. They’re walking around. They’re talking.”
A GoFundMe page was set up for the family to help with burial and funeral costs. With over 950 generous donors in less than a week, the online fundraiser has currently exceeded its $20,000 goal and now contains over $36,000.

Shontanique Roux, another cousin, discussed the unexpected loss of her family members with WXIA-TV.
Revealing that she had plans to visit them in July, she told the outlet, “I just, I can’t grasp it. It hurts. It hurts so bad. You just don’t think this kind of stuff is going to happen.
I was telling her I’ll be there at the end of July and I’ll come see her because I have to drive that way.”The next time I see her, it won’t be her,” she added. “The next time I’ll see that baby, it’s just not going to be the same. We talked all the time.”
