Thirty-five-year-old Monica Bradford was arrested after pointing a loaded shotgun at a seven-year-old trick-or-treater on Oct. 31 in Buda, Texas.
According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, Bradford was screaming at trick-or-treaters outside her house on Quarter Avenue around 7:20 p.m on Halloween.
Her neighbor Connie Medina told FOX7 that Bradford asked who was in her driveway. After Medina responded that she didn’t know, Bradford said she was going to retrieve her shotgun.
“Fine. Since you can’t tell me, I’m gonna go get my shotgun,” replied Bradford.
Witnesses told deputies on the scene that Bradford went back into her home after screaming at the kids dressed in Halloween costumes and returned holding a shotgun.
Bradford pointed the rifle at a seven-year-old child who was walking in front of Bradford’s house as she exited, prompting one of the children’s parents to call the police.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office posted a tweet about the arrest noting why she was arrested.
“Woman arrested for pointing a weapon at trick-or-treater in Buda.”
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is still interviewing witnesses and had no further comment.
Medina claimed that there was also an occurrence last Halloween and referred to it as “an incident.” Other neighbors questioned why Bradford had her porch light turned on if she didn’t want trick-or-treaters coming to her door on Halloween.
Alburt Anguiano was shocked by the Halloween melee.
“I was shocked. Like, it’s Halloween, you know?’ said Anguiano. “Kids are gonna be everywhere. How can somebody just come out with a weapon and scare these kids?”
The deputies arrested Bradford, and she was taken to the Hays County Jail. Bradford was charged with felony second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released on a $10,000 bond the following day.
Authorities are asking anyone with pertinent information to contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.
