A mistaken pizza delivery in Detroit, Michigan, on April 13 shockingly led to a massive shootout that left five people wounded and ten people brought into police custody. Fox News reported that a violent conflict broke out after an ordered pizza was brought to the wrong house.
The pizza was ordered to an address on Penrod, just off Schoolcraft and Southfield Freeway. The food was brought to the wrong house, and the people who accidentally got it accepted the order and ate the pizza—the night turned to gunfire when the people who originally placed the food order confronted the ones who wrongfully took the delivery.
After the confrontation took place, a police investigation revealed that over 30 bullets were fired during the argument between the two sides and that two 14-year-olds were hurt after being shot in the face and the body, respectively. Outside of the two teenagers, an 18-year-old was shot in the hand, a 31-year-old was struck in the leg, neck, and face, and a 32-year-old was shot in the leg. Fortunately, all five of the gunshot victims are in stable condition.
Quincy Smith of Ceasefire Detroit recalled, “We had parents showing up in tears, not knowing if their child was safe. The community needs to understand this isn’t normal. We shouldn’t get used to hearing a 14-year-old is dead; a 14-year-old got killed, a 14-year-old got shot.”
Smith added that a slew of involved parties were arrested on the scene.
“Ten people were taken into custody, including several teens, at the scene. All but one man was released. Police say one of the victims who was shot may have been a shooter.”
Detroit authorities are still searching for more people in connection to the shooting.
