A 33-year-old Missouri man was arrested in connection to the mysterious death of his girlfriend’s three-year-old son.
According to KMOV, Timothy Robinson has been charged with second-degree felony murder and neglect of a child resulting in death. He is accused of killing Emmanuel Ware, 3, in St. Louis, on December 10.
Initially, Robinson told the boy’s mother, Shanice Moore, that little Emmanuel had been hit by a car. She had gone to a job interview and had left the toddler in Robinson’s care. Upon returning home, Shanice discovered Emmanuel was unconscious and unresponsive on the floor with injuries to his head. The ruthless beau lied to the mom, telling her that they had gone to the gas station to buy cigarettes and he was hit by a car.
Shanice called the police, and Robinson fled. When police arrived, the devastated mother carried her son out of the apartment building. The three-year-old boy later died in the hospital.
St. Louis police investigated the bogus claim and didn’t find evidence to corroborate Robinson’s story. The news outlet revealed that court documents that officers also examined surveillance footage. No evidence put Robinson or Emmanuel at the store when he claimed.
The coroner also concluded that the toddler’s injuries were not consistent with being hit by a car.
Emmanuel’s family initially believed that his mother was involved in his death.
The boy’s grandmother, Wanda Lee, didn’t buy Shanice’s story.
“I got a phone call from Shanice stating that the baby had gotten hit,” she said. “A human being should never be treated like that. No reason, and all I want is justice. That’s all I want. I want justice to be served. It don’t make no sense. It’s senseless.”
Before truth was disclosed, Shanice’s sister, Lawanda, demanded answers.
“I just wanted my sister to tell us the truth. I feel like I will never know the truth. Tell these investigators what happened, what you saw, what was going on. She kept her family in the dark. We didn’t know what was going on. My sister painted a perfect picture.”
Lee described her grandson as a “happy” child.
Robinson is also in custody as a robbery suspect that occurred on December 13.
