After being missing for a week, CNN reported that Kathleen Moore’s body was discovered in Florida this past Tuesday. Her boyfriend, Colin Knapp, was arrested the day before her disappearance and is now facing a second-degree murder charge.
Investigators reportedly searched through a dumpster near his workplace and found a piece of his clothing with Moore’s blood on it. According to CNN, local police say that her body was located approximately 50 yards away from Knapp’s New Port Richey, Florida home. And though multiple detectives and canine units aided in the search, officials say that an anonymous call ultimately helped them find Moore’s body.

Addressing Moore’s family in a news briefing earlier this week, Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco reportedly stated, “Our hearts and prayers pour out to the family and friends of Kathleen Moore. I know you were all searching for a better resolution, and we all were, but unfortunately, this is what we have,” adding, “If there’s one thing that I can tell the family is that Kathleen was absolutely loved by this community.”

According to the sheriff, Knapp revealed to police that he and Moore argued twice on Nov. 28-29, first around some of their friends and another when they got back to his home after midnight.
Following his arrest, Knapp was taken to the Pasco County Detention Center, and according to CNN, the 30-year-old has made a request for a lawyer. There is no word on when the Florida man will face a judge, but if convicted on second-degree murder, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
