A missing Philadelphia woman, Kim Ezell, was identified as the body found inside a vehicle used for spare parts at the Delaware Technical Community College in Newark, Del., on Feb. 8.
According to CBS News Philadelphia, the search for the missing Philadelphia woman, 59-year-old Kim Ezell, began when her daughter discovered a man shot in the face inside her mother’s apartment. She was last seen on Jan. 5.
Seventy-eight-year-old Stanley Lawton was found with a gunshot wound to his right eye. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Lawton was reportedly Ezell’s roommate.
Thirty-year-old Walter Heard was arrested on Jan. 12 after a search by the police resulted in three firearms being found.
Walter Heard’s father is reportedly the apartment building’s landlord, and Heard had allegedly been bullying Ezell over the rent. Heard and Ezell allegedly had a disagreement over the lease.
Ezell’s daughter, Jameelah Ezell, said that her mother had requested an official lease, which Heard apparently refused to produce. She also confirmed Heard threatened to make her mother give him the rent.
“She was asking for a lease and he wasn’t bringing the lease,” she recalled. “And he kept saying, ‘You know, you’re gonna bring me money, or I’m gonna make you.’”
She added that she had to break into her mother’s apartment after not hearing from her. She said she found Lawton nude.
“No clothes on,” she said. “And he was dead with a shot in the head and no trace of my mom at all.”
Heard was also charged with robbery, burglary, and related offenses. Police say they found three handguns inside Heard’s residence.
Ezell’s cause of death has not yet been released, but a bullet was found near her body, indicating that she was also shot to death. The Delaware Police are reportedly investigating.
Heard was charged with murdering Lawton on Jan. 13 as well as burglary and robbery. The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges are expected. However, no additional arrests or charges for Ezell’s death have yet been brought.
