Michael Anthony Gallagher Charded With Racially Threatening Postcard To Maxine Waters

Another right-wing menace has been charged for his crimes. Michael Anthony Gallagher was charged with sending a threatening postcard to United States Representative Maxine Waters of California.

The postcard that Gallagher sent to Waters back in 2019 referred to the Ku Klux Klan, included racial slurs and a threat of violence, reported The Mercury News.

“The Sheriff of Stanislaus County says you and your (swear) are (swear). “We will successfully put a bullet in your head. -+KKK,” Gallagher is accused of writing. The postcard also contained a slur commonly used for Latinos.

A criminal complaint was filed against Gallagher in January, a year after he initially mailed the postcard. The details of the communication have been sealed and were only made privy due to the court filing on Wednesday.

Gallagher, 71, pleaded not guilty to the charge in March of last year. He was then released.

Threats against Democratic leaders began to increase in late 2018. Maxine Waters also had pipe bombs mailed

to her office by a man named Cesar Seyoc. He pleaded guilty to sending 16 improvised explosive devices to 13 targets and was subsequently sentenced to 20 years.

If he is found guilty, he faces a 10-year sentence.

Waters previously attributed the death threats to herself and her office to her ardent and vocal opposition to former President Donald Trump. Her calls for his impeachment seemed to send Trump supporters into a frenzy.

In March of this year, the veteran politician was the target of threatening phone calls from men in Kansas and Mississippi, respectively. Those incidents are still under investigation.

“The threats to Rep. Waters persist today due to his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election and his ongoing, implicit support and encouragement of domestic terrorists in the United States,” a statement from Rep. Waters’ office issued earlier this year read.

Maxine Waters has been a Democratic Congresswoman since 1991.
