A viral video has recently surfaced from a January 30 incident of a brawl at the Philadelphia International Airport. The video shows a fight between two female passengers, a mother-daughter duo, tussling with Spirit Airline workers near a terminal.
According to The Independent, the 36-year-old mother and the 17-year-old daughter allegedly tried to board a flight without paying, which prompted the altercation shown in the recording.
The video starts with a Spirit agent yelling for security while trying to block the mother-daughter duo from entering the terminal. They begin punching and pulling each other’s hair, and the fight continues to escalate, with more agents attempting to break up the fight and getting caught up in it. One Spirit agent is heard on the video saying, “Get off of her, Get off of her,” and another bystander to the fight calls out, “Where the f*** is security?” The video proceeds to show male agents or bystanders joining the combat to try and break it up. It goes on for almost 2 minutes; the mother’s shirt is torn off, a wig is ripped off, and the mother loses her shoes too.
Thankfully, according to the Philadelphia Police Department, there were no serious injuries in the fight. A statement from the department reported, “On Monday, 30 January 2023, at approximately 7:29 P.M., police received information that several passengers were pulling apart a 24-year-old female complainant and a 17-year-old female along with her 39-year-old mother during an argument over additional baggage fees,”
“At this time, the 17-year-old female attempted to access Jetway and was halted by the 24-year-old complainant when she was punched/hair pulled by the 17-year-old female being assisted by her 39-year-old mother. The 24-year-old female sustained a minor eyelid laceration. All participants were advised by police in reference to private criminal complaint documentation.”
