First Lady of Haiti, Martine Moïse, returned to her nation for her late husband president Jovenel Moïse’s funeral.
Moïse was being treated in a Miami hospital following her injuries during the recent attack on her private residence in Haiti.
This attack led to the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. The attack was led by assassins who were armed with assault rifles and stormed their home above Port-au-Prince.
The Prime Minister’s office shared a video on Twitter of Martine Moïse arriving back at the Haitian capital’s Toussaint Louverture international airport. She wore all black clothing and a bulletproof vest. Her right arm was in a sling.
“The Prime Minister, Dr. Claude Joseph, welcomes the First Lady, Martine Moïse, who arrives in Haiti for the funeral of her husband,” the Prime Minister’s office said.

Martine Moïse also shared a tweet earlier this week while in Miami. She thanked her “team of guardian angels who helped me through this terrible time.”
In a recent interview with NPR, Haiti’s interim Prime minister Claude Joseph shared information about the ongoing assassination investigation.
“There is an ongoing investigation, and I think that we are doing a good job. We already, as you know, captured about two dozen Colombians that actually killed the president. We got also five Haitians, [including] two Haitian-Americans, I guess. There are other people that we are searching now who may have links with those who actually killed the president. So there is also Emmanuel Sanon, one of the intellectual authors of the crime. We are very optimistic about where we’re going because we are going to give justice to President Moïse.”
