Manning Coney Jr. Arrested After Pointing Gun At Two Coral Gables Police Officers

Florida resident Manning Coney, Jr. is facing charges after pulling out a gun and pointing it towards two Coral Gables Police officers.

The entire incident, which occurred in late June, was caught on camera. The footage showed two Coral Gables Police officers sitting at a table in front of a business as Coney walked by, per WPLG. Coney eventually sat down, and once he was seated, he pulled out a handgun. He placed

it on the table and pointed it at the officers.

“The defendant, while still seated next to the officers, brandished a 9mm SCCY firearm and placed it on top of the table in a careless manner, pointing the firearm directly at us where we were seated,” one of the officers wrote in an arrest report.

When the Coral Gables officers noticed the gun, they jumped up, confiscated the gun and attempted to take Coney into custody. When he started resisting, one of the officers tased him.

“At this point, I deployed my electronic control device (Taser) to gain control of the subject. The Taser was cycled three times on the defendant before he complied,” the officer wrote in the report.

Coney is charged with resisting arrest without violence, improper exhibition of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon without a license, per WSVN. There were no rounds in the chamber, but the gun was fitted with a magazine containing five rounds.

Coney reportedly took his gun out because he wanted to “show the officers they weren’t the only ones with power,” according to a tweet from Coral Gables Police. He is currently out on bond.
