A man pulled a gun on a Starbucks employee in Miami Gardens, Fla., last week. The employee, who turned out to be the police chief’s daughter, apparently forgot to give him a cream cheese for his bagel.
Miami Gardens Police said that the man, 38-year-old Omar Wright, became irate once he realized that she had forgotten the cream cheese for his bagel. Wright returned to the drive-thru window and yelled at her for forgetting his cream cheese. After she asked Wright if he had paid for the cream cheese, he reportedly pulled out his gun and cursed at her.
“I hate b****** like you, and you don’t know who you’re f****** with. I’m from Carol City.”
As it turned out, it was Wright who didn’t know who he was f****** with. The 23-year-old Starbucks employee is the daughter of Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt. The police were called as Wright drove off, but he was later arrested after an employee, and video footage caught a partial tag number to his vehicle.
“It’s thanks in part to the witnesses, to the real-time crime center that we have,” said Noel-Pratt. “Because of the various cameras that they have in that system, they were able to get a partial tag.”
Noel-Pratt also said that her daughter was terrified during the incident and feared for her life.
“Forget about the badge, forget about the title, that’s my child,” she said. “And I thought about, am I going to see her again? Is she OK? Of course, she was upset, she was crying, and so I had to go into mom mode.”
Wright was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was released on a $10,000 bond. He claims that he didn’t pull his gun and that it fell out of his pocket.
“Always go to Dunkin’ Donuts,” Wright said. “Never Starbucks.”
The judge ordered Wright to stay away from Starbucks as well as Noel-Pratt’s daughter.
