A 25-year-old man shot and killed his two younger brothers in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 30 after a Ramadan service, according to FOX4KC News.
Sixteen-year-old Abdulwahid Abdulaziz, and his 15-year-old brother, Abdirahman Abdulaziz, were shot to death by their older brother, Hanad Abdiaziz around 11:30 p.m. after leaving their Mosque. The teenagers were shot near their home on 8th and Olive after leaving a Ramadan service.
Friends of the teens said that the boys succeeded at everything they did. Abdirahman was set to begin leading prayers for Ramadan at the Mosque this week. His friends told FOX4 that he had been studying for months. Abdulwahid and Abdirahman both got good grades, loved playing basketball and were well-known in the Islamic community. The shooting apparently happened after a domestic dispute.
The suspect in the two killings, Hanad Abdiaziz, was shot and killed by the Kansas City police around 6:15 p.m. on May 1. The shooting happened near East Missouri Avenue and Maple Boulevard. Police said
that Abdiaziz brandished a short-barreled rifle at the police and opened fire before being shot and killed. Only one police officer returned fire, according to the KCPD.Hanad was transported to a local hospital by the paramedics where he died.
The boys’ teacher, Ayman Hassan, was stunned by the events.
“I am shocked, I can’t believe what happened exactly,” Hassan said. Both boys had also memorized the Quran.
Hassan said that both boys had led a prayer only hours before they were shot and killed.
“They recited Quran versus related to what happened to them about oppression and about how to avoid transgression, how to avoid hurting people, murder is prohibited-amazing,” Hassan said. He added that Abdulwahid and Abdirahman both had good character and were not trouble makers. “They were amazing.”
