A 24-year-old, John Arellano, was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday after attacking and chasing a Black stranger for 13 minutes while yelling racial slurs at him, according to an arrest report obtained by Las Vegas Review-Journal,
Arellano, who is a white Hispanic man, faces charges of attempted murder, assault on a protected person, and hate/bias crime.
Police received a call that evening about a man being chased down the street, and when they arrived, they ordered a man, identified as Arellano, to get down on the ground when he began “marching” towards them, yelling, “I hate n—-ers!”
Officers fired non-lethal bean bag rounds and a stun gun at Arellano, who said as he was being put under arrest, “I punched him,” Arellano said.
“Arellano stated, ‘I should have killed that black guy I hit,” the report said.
He is also facing a charge of assault on a protected person because he made an advance on an officer at the scene.
According to the victim, Arellano chased him as he walked home for work, then called him a racial slur and punched him in the eye nearby a bus stop at Fairwood Circle and Jones Boulevard.
Arellano then continued to chase the man for 13-minutes over seven blocks and only stopped when officers arrived.
While on the way to the hospital, Arellano allegedly told police, “I should have killed that Black guy that I hit.” An officer asked if Arellano was referring to the victim; he replied, “yes, it can affect my pride,” and said he is at war with Black people.

Arellano also coincidentally matches the description of a man who attempted to stab a black woman the night before at the exact location.
Arellano is being held on $30,000 bail.
