Tennis Champ Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian discovered the gender of their impending second child, and — it’s a girl!
Since Serena announced she was pregnant with baby No. 2, she created a YouTube channel surrounding her pregnancy, from pregnancy workout vids to belly routines.
She recently uploaded a six-minute video of her rainbow-themed baby shower and gender reveal titled “Our Next Great Adventure.”
Toward the end of the event, Alexis tricked Serena into thinking the gender reveal would be basic as cutting a cake with the gender’s color inside. However, the 23-time Grand Slam champ would discover yellow icing once she cut the cake inside of a blue or pink color.
“I’m doing this because I want to troll her and Olympia into thinking that this is the reveal of Jelly Bean,” he explained into the camera. Jelly Bean is the nickname for their new baby. “She will cut into this cake and probably be disappointed and hopefully appreciate my troll. But we’ll see. I don’t know if she’s gonna be a professional about it. She might see this cake come out, roll her eyes, and say, ‘This guy had one job, and he gave me a goddamn cake gender reveal.’ But we’ll see. There’s a reveal after the reveal.”
Serena plated the cake and moved to smash it in her husband’s face, resulting in laughter.
Alexis then diverted everyone’s attention toward a field where multicolored drones created several shapes in the sky, from a tennis racket to an envelope. The drones formed a magic wand waving over the envelope and, finally, revealed the sex to be a girl, writing, “It’s a girl” in the sky.
The gender reveal-slash-baby shower included a rainbow-colored balloon arch with a sign that read, “Our Next Great Adventure.”
The cake had two tiers, the bottom being light blue and the top a light pink color. Stars, clouds, hearts and rainbows decorated the cake.
They had a full-service bar that had two sides to serve guests. One side was pink and the other blue. They also had water activities for the children, including a dunk tank.
They welcomed their first daughter, Olympia, 5, in 2017.
