Indiana Woman Faces Murder Charge After Using Apple AirTag To Track And Kill Boyfriend

Gaylyn Morris is facing murder charges after allegedly using Apple AirTag to track down and kill her boyfriend Andre Smith, who she claimed was cheating on her.

Local news outlets reported

that the Indiana woman faces a murder charge for killing her boyfriend in the parking lot of a pub on June 3. Investigators said that during an interview with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives, she admitted using an Apple AirTag hidden in Smith’s car to track him down.

Court documents indicated that the 26-year-old woman came to Tilly’s Pub in the 3900 block of E. 82nd St.in Indianapolis that evening and discovered Smith with another woman. A fight then broke out in the establishment, as Morris reportedly took an empty beer bottle and swung it at the unidentified woman, but her boyfriend grabbed it and stood in between the two. Eventually, a bartender kicked all of three them out.

Witnesses said that shortly after exiting the bar, Morris reportedly hit Smith with her car, ran back over him, and then pulled forward to run over him once more. When officers arrived, they found him partially trapped under a black Chevrolet Impala, and he died at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office later revealed that Smith died from traumatic asphyxiation.

The Indiana woman told police that she went to Tilly’s to wait for him and the unnamed woman he was with, and that although she did hit the young man, she didn’t mean for him to go under the car. She added that she meant to hit the woman with her vehicle instead.

The suspect also initially denied placing a GPS tracker on Smith’s car but then admitted to putting it in the backseat near a cupholder, after a detective told her that a search warrant would be served on the vehicle.

Morris reportedly had a court appearance on Jun. 9 where she entered a not guilty plea and was scheduled to return for a hearing in two weeks since then.
