Fifteen-year-old Ian Taylor Schlitz has graduated from the University of North Texas. The teen graduated Magna cum laude from the college this spring and now plans to go on to graduate school.
Schlitz and his siblings were home-schooled. The boy’s father, William Schlitz, told theGrio that racism was a big motivator in removing his children from public school in Keller, Texas, in order to home school them.
“There’s a lot of racist issues in these schools, especially from these teachers that no one holds accountable, and the children pay the price,” said Schlitz.
Schlitz finished elementary, middle and high school in just four years, and his older sister, Haley, is the youngest person ever accepted to SMU Law School in Dallas. Haley Schlitz was just 16-years-old at the time, having graduated high school at 9. Haley and Ian also share a company together called Kidlamity Gaming, a video gaming company with a mission to bring gaming back to kids through tournaments.
“I feel really empowered because if I can graduate college at 15, I feel like I can take on the world,” said Schiltz.
Schiltz is going for his Master’s degree in Business Administration next. The youngster then plans to follow in the footsteps of his mother and become a doctor. Schlitz also has a 13-year-old younger sister, Hana, who has started taking college courses. We can only imagine what’s in store for her.
