Hit-and-Run Survivor Says Firefighter Stole Wallet And Credit Cards

Seven Robinson-Laney, an 18-year-old who survived a hit-and-run accident that killed four of his friends in St. Louis, may have been robbed of his wallet and credit card by a firefighter.

The wallet contained hundreds of dollars and two gift cards Robinson-Laney received for his 18th birthday.

According to the St. Louis Dispatch, although the St. Louis police have a video of a firefighter putting Robinson-Laney’s wallet in his coat, no charges have been filed against the firefighter. The firefighter, who is a person of interest in the case, has instead been questioned by authorities.

Robinson-Laney discovered several fraudulent charges on his debit card while recovering in Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He and his mother have talked with several investigators from the Fourth District and provided descriptions, including a copy of the contested bank charges. The wallet, cash, and gift cards have not yet been recovered.

Robinson-Laney’s mother filed a complaint with the city’s public safety department after not hearing from the police for about two weeks.

The fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on February 26 when the SUV Robinson-Laney was riding in was struck by a driver who ran a red light.

Cedric Dixon, the driver who caused the fatal hit-and-run accident, turned himself in three days after the crash and is being held without bond, charged with 17 felonies. Dixon’s attorney, Raphael Morris, has not commented on the case.

Robinson-Laney and his mother are frustrated that no charges have been filed against the firefighter despite the video evidence.

“I can’t believe someone would use this as an opportunity to steal. That’s just horrible,” his mother said. “I just want justice for my son.”

The St. Louis police are investigating the incident, and the firefighter remains a person of interest. No warrants have been issued in the case.
