Cheryl Parsa, ex-girlfriend of former NFL player and Republican nominee Herschel Walker, recently detailed five years of abuse during her first TV interview with NBC News.
During the Dec. 4 interview–48 hours before the election–Cheryl revealed that she was in a five-year relationship with Herschel in the 2000s. While the two were arguing in 2005, she said, the former athlete and U.S. senate candidate pressed her head against a wall, grabbed her throat, and balled his fist to punch her–a punch that he allegedly missed and, thus, ended up striking the wall instead.
She additionally explained that she came forward to The Daily Beast on Dec. 1 because she felt Herschel was attempting to fool the American public.
“I believe the deception now is on the American people and I have to say what I know. I have to tell the Herschel I know,” Cheryl said.
The 60-year-old’s ex-girlfriend also revealed that she confronted him after finding him with another woman at a Dallas home.
“He told me, you want to see a man, I’ll show you a man,” Cheryl recalled. Then, she said, he pressed his forehead against hers, causing her head to be pressed against a wall. At that moment, he passionately yelled at her to the point where his saliva got on her.
“He had his hand on my throat, my chest, and then he leaned back to throw a punch,” Parsa said. “And luckily, I was able to avoid that. And the punch landed on the wall instead of me.”
Three of Cheryl’s confidants reportedly told NBC News that she notified them about the incident before Walker ran for the Georgia seat.
She reportedly isn’t the only one to recount a violent relationship with Herschel. His ex-wife, Sidney Grossman, came forward in 2008 about a time when he allegedly put a gun to her head and told her, “I’m going to blow your f*cking brains out.”
The Republican candidate revealed that he battled mental illness in the past. In October’s debate with Democratic candidate Raphael Warnock, he said its under control.
“I continue to get help if I need help, but I don’t need any help. I’m doing well,” he said.
