Heather Duplessis and Lauren Bagneris, two medical students from Louisiana State University, helped save a passenger’s life who fainted on an airline flight to Greece.
The pair told the airline crew that they were medical students when asked for help, then rushed to help the woman who had fainted due to low blood sugar and heat exhaustion.
NOLA reported that the two girls stabilized the patient “and got her to take some juice and food, and also cooled her off,” LSU said in a statement on Facebook.
The students also relayed critical information about the patient with a doctor on the ground while recording the woman’s blood pressure, pulse, and blood sugar.
“The patient ended up feeling much better thanks to these two talented doctors in the making and their LSU medical education,” the school stated. “Way to Geaux Tigers! You do us proud!!!”
An Instagram user praised the girls and said, “This is awesome!!!! Salute to Heather and Lauren!!”
Other social media users also took the opportunity to note that this was an act of Black excellence.
“And they Black,” one person commented.
Others were in awe of their heroic effort.
“This is why I want to be a nurse soo bad so that I can help people just like they did,” an Instagram user added. “Good work, girl’s, and thank you, Lord, for placing them on that.”

One Instagram user, who identified herself as the mother of Bagneris, said the two women are second-year med students.
“My daughter Lauren Bagneris and her Soror Heather Duplessis, both second-year med students at LSU, responded to an emergency call for a medical professional on a plane to Greece when nobody else stepped up and saved a woman’s life,” the mother wrote.
