Georgia Daycare Employee Accused Of Ripping Toddler’s Braids From Scalp

A family is accusing employees at a Georgia daycare of ripping the braids out of a two-year-old girl’s scalp.

Kailyn Brown and the toddler’s father, Lonzo, known on Instagram as @itslonzo, said their daughter Baileigh had attended Creekstone Academy in Duluth, Georgia, since August 2021.

Lonzo detailed his horror and anger in several Instagram posts as the parents noticed their daughter would come home with braids ripped from her scalp and bald patches.

Brown said, “When I did speak to the owner of this place. He told me this was something that could’ve happened while my child was at home in my care. I really don’t appreciate it, and I’m very hurt, very angry,” she said.

In one post, Lonzo shared photos of his daughter’s scalp, writing in part, “March 28th, I picked my [daughter Baileigh] up with absolutely no beads in her hair. The school told me they removed my daughters beads because they were not able to keep another student from pulling them off. I made no fuss, I simply took my daughter home & put her beads on tighter because again, she loves them & no one should be able to take that joy from her. Fast forward April 7th I came to pick up my daughter to her beads removed yet again however this time her braids were ripped from her scalp. Once I made a complaint of my daughters beads being snatched the Director of this facility told me that all she would do was contact the child’s parent. Days later after leaving a review on how we felt the situation was handled, my children were put out of the daycare.”

Lonzo shared another post highlighting poor reviews from other parents who have children that attend the daycare.

In his last post, he shared a statement from the school which detailed the incident and accused the parents of “inappropriate” behavior, which led to the children’s dis-enrollment.

According to FOX 5, The state has opened an investigation into Creekstone Daycare Academy that could take up to 30 days.

Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning spokesman Reg Griffi said, “This is very unusual…both the type of complaint and just complaints in general.”

We hope this family will get some answers about what happened to their baby girl.
