Former Uber Driver Owns Cryptocurrency Business Valued At $8M: ‘All It Takes Is One Year Of Focus To Change Your Life Forever’

A former Uber driver founded a cryptocurrency app that allows consumers to pay bills, shop, and borrow money using digital currency.

Anade Davis invented the CryptoShare app while serving as the founder and chief data scientist for the World Data Science Institute. After driving for Uber in 2017, the entrepreneur now owns a company worth more than $8 million, Black News reported.

Cryptoshare officially launched this month, raising over $200,000 from 400 investors on Wefunder. Those using the app can utilize physical and digital assets as collateral to apply for loans. It also authorizes users to purchase real-life items using cryptocurrency.

Davis shared his passion for the business and what inspired him to learn how to code.

“I love telling people my story because I want people to understand that I learned how to code at 31-years old. I love motivating people and encouraging people. I often tell them all it takes is one year of focus to change your life forever. I went from driving Uber to being featured in Black Enterprise and Shoppe Black.”

Davis’ accomplishments have sparked a growing need for data scientists nationwide. According to Forbes, there has been an increase in data scientists in 2021, named

one of America’s most in-demand jobs, with top-level data science managers making between $160,000 and $250,000 a year. Davis plans to offer a data science training session at no cost for teenagers related to those who invest $1000 or more.

“If you want to know how I did it, the answer is simple,” he said. “I worked hard, focused on my goals, cut off watching sports all the time, cut off chasing women, and I started being around the people I wanted to be like. I started posting articles on Linkedin about Data Science. Going to events where I knew technical people and recruiters would be.”

Davis revealed that he took so many free courses while living in Atlanta.

“I dedicated my life to being a Data Science, and within five years, I am already at the point that I will never have to drive for Uber again,” he added.

Davis and his company were recently awarded the 2021 Technology Innovator Award. They also won a $10,000 pitch competition from a non-profit Black professionals’ company called Blacks in Technology.
