Former NFL player Kevin Ware, Jr. was arrested questioned about his missing girlfriend, 29-year-old Taylor Pomaski. Ware was arrested on June 11 by U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force for violating a court order.
The U.S. Marshals arrested Ware in Spring, Texas, at a strip mall. Ware, 40, was arrested on a warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was also wanted for the possession of controlled substances with the intent to deliver. The former NFL star spent two years in jail after being convicted of the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance in 2018.
Ware’s first arrest was on April 19. After he was released on a $23,000 bond, witnesses said they heard a violent confrontation between him and Pomaski. She was last seen with Ware on April 29 at a party. Police suspect that the woman was the victim of foul play.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Ware did not show up for his bond supervision hearings in April and May.
Eric Zuleger, an ex-boyfriend of the missing woman, said Pomaski was in an abusive relationship with the ex-footballer and wanted out of the situation. Zuleger said that he received an email from Pomaski on April 26 saying that she needed help around 6:15 a.m., which was the last he heard from her.
“She was in danger, and she was in trouble. There was violence, she referenced a gun being pulled on her. She was very scared, very nervous.”
While the police have not named Ware a suspect, they did say that he is a person of interest in Pomaski’s disappearance. In addition, Harris County investigators said that several other witnesses have not come forward that are also persons of interest.
Ware played college football for the University of Washington before going pro, where he played for the Washington Redskins. He was a tight end for Redskins back in 2003. He also played for the San Francisco 49ers the following year.
