Former NFL running back Alex Collins was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash this weekend. The Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens player was active between 2016 and 2021 and died at just 28 years old.
According to the Broward County, Florida, Sheriff’s Office, Collins was killed in a vehicle accident the night before in Lauderdale Lakes. Police officers responded to an emergency call after 10:00 PM after Collins’
2004 Suzuki GSX-R600K motorcycle got into a crash with a Chevrolet Suburban SUV.The press release detailed that as the Chevrolet was making an eastbound left turn when Collins hit the rear passenger side of the SUV on his motorcycle. Collins was killed on the scene of the violent car crash,
The Ravens took to social media to share the heartbreaking news on Monday, August 14. Head coach
John Harbaugh said earnestly, “Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly.”“I’ll always remember him for being a great teammate who had an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered. He was also a smart player who ran with unlimited determination, and he contributed to a lot of our success during his time in Baltimore. We send our heartfelt condolences and support to Alex’s family. May he now rest in God’s eternal peace.”
The other team that Collins played for, the Seahawks, also released a statement of condolence on Twitter.
His fellow teammate, Geno Smith, who played with him in 2020 and 2021, also wrote, “Life so crazy, man. Fly high my boy until we meet again.”
