On Saturday, a Black man was subjected to a stream of racial insults following a car accident with a retired Los Angeles police officer. The San Clarita, California incident was caught on video and has since gone viral via Twitter.
According to LA Taco, former Los Angeles Central Bureau Police Detective John Motto was seen on the video hurling racial epithets, including the n-word at a Black driver.

“Oh but you can say n****r and I can’t?” The former detective was heard saying this and more in the video until an unidentified blonde woman urges him to retreat back to his vehicle.
In response, the Black driver said, “Are you f*****g serious right now?”
Motto continued his racist tirade after demanding the driver present his ID and becoming aware of a witness, Uriel Barraza, who was recording the exchange.
“He started the n****r thing because he is the dumb n****r,” the bigoted man said.

Barraza supports the driver’s claims that Motto was indeed the aggressor, saying he “parked in front of him, got out of the [truck] and just started going off on him.”
Los Angeles District Attorney, George Gascon, announced he will be investigating Motto’s 370 cases in Los Angeles for such instances of racism prior to his May 2020 retirement. However, it is Motto’s retirement that prevents LAPD from taking any disciplinary action in this case, according to News One.
Gascon released a statement regarding Saturday’s incident.
“What is seen in the video is not reflective of the thousands of hard-working and dedicated men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department,” he said.
