A former Little Caesars Pizza employee reportedly shot and critically wounded the store manager after she wasn’t rehired last week.
Angel Kidd, 27, was arrested by Cincinnati police on a felonious assault charge on June 7, WXIX reported. She was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center after 1 p.m. on Thursday, the court documents stated.
The shooting incident occurred at the restaurant chain Tuesday night when Kidd “returned to the business after being fired” and requested her job back, police said in a statement.
After the former employee was informed that she wouldn’t be rehired, she began fighting the manager in the parking lot. Moments later, the 27-year-old “pulled a gun and shot the store manager in the left leg. (She) fled the scene in a blue SUV.”
The manager was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, police said.
On Friday, Kidd appeared in court during an arraignment hearing with a bond set at $500,000.
Her attorney requested that the bond be reduced since the woman does not have a prior criminal record.
“She has absolutely no prior criminal history that I can show. She does have a valid defense to this charge. We don’t want to get into it this morning, but she does have a valid defense,” Kidd’s attorney said.
This isn’t the first time fast-food employees have sought revenge on management following a disagreement. On Friday, 21-year-old Christopher Jean-Pierre allegedly shot and critically wounded his manager at a McDonald’s in Macon, Georgia.
Police said the woman was shot multiple times before Pierre fled the scene, The Telegraph reported. He faces several charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and criminal attempt to commit murder. Additional charges were applied.
“Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants,” Danesha Smith told McClatchy News. “We are deeply disturbed by this incident and our thoughts are with our employee at this time. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement in their investigation.”
